CENTENNIAL SHIELD OF ARMS
r ~pHE DESIGN of the shield of arms chosen by the Centennial Association will be wellknown in the city by Christmas when it is expected that the full order of 10,000 pennants will be available for distribution. These pennants have been ordered by the association against orders from city retailers and' will be sold at a comparatively cheap price. The central figure of the shield of arms is a lion rampant, in scarlet and gold, set in the middle of a St. Andrew’s cross in blue and white. Kowhai blooms and foliage decorate the sides of the design and the Southern Cross is set >ak the top. The pennants, which are nine inches wide and 12 inches long, will be fringed at the bottom, and batons at the top will make them easy to hang.
The shield of arms will also be used on large pennants, which will decorate the pylons to be erected at the street corners along the main streets of the city, and on floats taking part in the Cavalcade of Progress.
