WORLD CENSUS

ALL LIVING STOCK PROPOSAL FOR 1950 P.A. AUCKLAND, Sept. 29. The methods to be adopted in the world agricultural census to be conducted in 1950 were discussed at the world statistical conference held at Washington, United States, recently, said Mr G. E. Wood, Government statistician, and New Zealand’s delegate to the conference, who returned by Pan-American clipper to-day. He said the proposal was broadly to count the heads of all livestock in existence. Sponsored by the United Nations organisation, the conference was attended by representatives of 40 different nations, Mr Wood said. Agreement was reached in many instances. Other matters discussed were ways of measuring national incomes and the population question.
