£73,000 NOW IN HAND
GOOD RESPONSE TO APPEAL MORE FUNDS STILL REQUIRED “The response to the appeal has been very gratifying, and the amount raised to date is over £73,000,’’ said the convener of the Finance Committee, Mr Carl V. Smith. “Although a large proportion of this amount has come from local bodies, firms and societies, private citizens have also been contributing and in many cases have given very substantial amounts. “An opportunity for everyone to subscribe something to the fund will be given shortly,” Mr Smith said, “when a campaign to sell souvenir tickets will be launched. “These tickets, which will repre-sent-a donation of 5s to the fund, will also carry with them the privilege of free admission to all the functions that will be held on the Caledonian Ground during the. period the amusement park is open. As the executive is arranging an attractive programme of events for that period, there will be a very distinct advantage in being the possessor of a souvenir ticket. Although the campaign has not been officially launched, several thousands of these tickets have already been sold.”
