FIERY CROSS
REQUIRED IN EDINBURGH RETURN TO DUNEDIN IN OCTOBER The Fiery Cross is not to remain long in Dunedin on this occasion, for on Friday next it will commence its return journey to Scotland. It will, however, be sent back to Dunedin in October and will be retained in tire city. A cabled request was received yesterday by the Otago Scottish Council, through the United Kingdom High Commissioner’s office, that the Fiery Cross should be returned by air to Edinburgh as soon as possible after the completion of New Zealand ceremonies. The request came from -the council in charge of the “ Enterprise Scotland ” exhibition at Edinburgh, and no doubt the Fiery Cross will be displayed at the industrial fair, after which it will be sent out again to Dunedin. The Otago Scottish Council had hoped that the Fiery Cross, which is at present in Invercargill, would be on display at the Ranfurly Shield match on Saturday next, but this intention, together with the plans for its visit to country centres, has had to be abandoned.
