DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs L. C. Hazlett (chairman). C. N. Draper, K. Clark, W. H. Elliott, A. P. Greenfield, R. C. B. Greenslade, W. Garrett. J. A. Gow, B. S. Irwin. D. M. Reid, A. N. Smith, R. W. Wilson and Dr E. R. Harty. Permission was received from the New Zealand Racing Conference to make the draw lor post positions after the closing of acceptances for the forthcoming spring meeting. Appreciation of the club's donation to the centennial funds was expressed in a letter received from the Otago Centennial Association.

Mr W. Pierson was appointed as veterinary surgeon to the club. Arrangements in connection with the spring meeting were completed, and it was reported that the St. Kilda Municipal Band had been engaged. The Presbyterian Sunday School Teachers' Association was granted permission to hold a children's centennial picnic at Wingatui racecourse on March 6. 1948. It was decided to hold a Jockey Club ball during the main centennial celebrations week, and to convene a meeting of members and ladies to discuss and formulate the necessary arrangements.
