TRENTHAM TRAINING NOTES

HOWE FOR AVONDALE P.A. WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. Howe left Trentham to-day en route to Avondale to fulfil his engagement in the Avondale Cup on Saturday. He will be ridden by W. J. Broughton. He has freshened up since racing at Riccarton and is very fit. He has previously handled the right-handed going at Auckland, and is likely to be well supported for Saturday’s contest. Only eight Trentham-trained horses are engaged at Wanganui on Saturday, and there was no fast work this morning. The stablemates, Lady Christine, Blue Pier and Air Belle, went on to Wanganui from Foxton. Lady Christine is to have her first race as a three-year-old in the Flying Handicap on Saturday. She will then contest the Guineas on the second day. Air Belle will have her first race at Masterton, and will then contest the Wellesley Stakes at Trentham. Marilyn, who disappointed at Foxton, also went on to Wanganui. She will race in the sprint on the first day prior to running in the Guineas. Stellar, a two-year-old filly by Te Hero from Biddy Machree, is to contest the Debutante Stakes, and will be ridden by K. R. Ford, who won the event last year on Lady Christine. Full of Fun twisted a plate in the Robinson Handicap at Foxton, and will be off the scene for some time. Ladyship has made satisfactory progress since she has been a member of W. Bryce’s team, and she will make her next appearance either at Otaki or Masterton. She will then contest the Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham.
