RENOWNED IN GOOD ORDER Special to the Daily Times .CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. 20. Though the three-year-old Renowned was not raced at the Grand National meeting, she is well forward for spring engagements. R. Wilson expects to start her off in the John Grigg Stakes at Ashburton next month. She did not win a race last season, but she was second four times, and she looks a good pros’.ect. R. E. Johnstone has two additions 'to his team. They are three-year-olds. A filly by Battle Song—Silver Sands will be raced by her breeder, Mr W. R. Toon, while Mr C. C. Bateman is the owner of a gelding by Paper Slipper from Rebel Lass, the dam of Miss Medley. G. Ridgway is keeping the three-year-old Broie in strong work, and he is booked for a race at Ashburton. He is a well-grown gelding by Broiefort, while his dam, Pandy, by Phaleron Bay, comes from the same family as Nyland (Winter Cup and Stewards’ Handicap) and Regal Fox (Great Northern Derby) Miss Medley, who had to miss her engagement last Saturday, as a result of being sore, is having a rest but T H GilleH hopes to have her racing at the spring meetings, where she may get a staled? as she is well forward Copper Coin is having an easy time for a few weeks. She has earned the rest, after some good form lately, but E. S. Rosewarne expects to have her at her best again for the New Zealand Cup meeting T. H. Gillett is busy with a three-year-old gelding for Mr S. G Mackenzie, who formerly had Salary in ilie same stable. The newcomer is by Salmagundi from Victory Bond, but, though he looks a likely sort, he will not be ready to race for a few months.
