FORMER CANADIAN MILITARY COMMANDER Official New Zealand Correspondent With J Force Rec. 8 pm. YAMAGUCHI, Aug. 15. A former commander of the Canadian military forces, General W. Q. G. Crerar, was welcomed at Ozuki this morning by the commander of the New Zealand Brigade in Japan, Brigadier Crump. He is visiting the New Zealand area in the course of his tour as head of the Canadian commission which will advise the Government on its peace settlements policy and which is also concerned with the revival of trade between Canada and Japan. After the ceremony at Ozuki, General Crerar proceeded to Yamaguchi, where the party were guests of the commanding officer. Lieu-tenant-colonel G. P. Dawson, and his officers. The party inspected the Army Education Service headquarters at Yuda. General Crerar will leave early to-morrow morning by plane.
