WINDING-UP ORDERED
PRIVATE • AIRLINE COMPANY Rec. 10 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 19. The converted Halifax bomber, which achieved much publicity some weeks ago by flying a cargo of dogs from Sydney to Singapore, lost £9OO on the trip. At the time there was talk of restocking from Australian kennels the canine population of Singapore which was depleted during the Japanese occupation. To-day, Mr Justice Roper, in the Equity Court, made an order to wind up the company known as Air Carriers Proprietary, Ltd., which, it was stated, war operated by a group of former air force men The evidence disclosed that the company, which had less than 1.7000 subscribed capital rented a hangar and workshops at Bankstown aerodrome, Sydney. A man who opposed the winding-up of the company said that the plane returned empty from Singapore because officials ordered the unloading of 15,000 motor tyres which would have represented most of the profit on the trip.
