PRACTICE OF TRADE UNION GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE SOUGHT Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Aug. 15. Did the Government approve of the practice of certain trade unions in attempting to pass resolutions forcing a levy upon their members, many of whom were not supporters of the Labour Party and ■ who were all required by law to be members of a union, for the purpose of taking up further shares in New Zealand Labour Newspapers, Ltd.? asked Mr J. T Watts (Oppn., St. Albans) in nptice of a question to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, in the House of Representatives to-day. In a note to his question, Mr Watts said that he had in his possession a notice from a union secretary to members giving notice of a motion to impose a levy of 5s a member for this purpose.
