EVENING WEDDING

BRIDE IN WHITE OTTOMAN A pretty wedding, which took place at St. Matthew's Church last Tuesday evening, was that of Earnest Leslie, only son of Mr and Mrs John Gilchrist, of Howe street, and Valerie Helen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J- A. McDonald, of Eglinton road. The bride’s gown of white corded ottoman, was of Victorian style with an off-the-shoulder bodice and full skirt falling from a padded hip-line. Her veil of white tulle was secured at each side by small white flowers, and she carried a Victorian posy of white cyclamen, daffodils, and freesias. Her only jewellery was a cameo pendant, which belonged to her great-grandmother. ■ The bridesmaid was Miss Joy Anderson. whose frock of blue silk velvet was similar in design to; that of the bride. She carried a Victorian posy of cyclamen and wore matching flowers in her hair. Mr Don Miller was the best man. After the ceremony the guests were received by Mr and Mrs McDonald and Mr and Mrs Gilchrist at the Somerset Lounge. Mrs McDonald wore a gown of black French net figured with gold and red and a spray of orchids and freesias. Mrs Gilchrist’s gown of heavy black crepe featured black velvet trimming. Her shoulder spray was of red cyclamen to match those worn in her hair. ' For travelling, the bride wore a suit and coat of brown boucle with a biege lace blouse and a brown off-the-face bonnet shaped hat with a side-trimming of ribbon. Mr and Mrs E. L. Gilchrist will make their home in Hamilton.
