IRRIGATION FARM

Mr A. C. Hurst was in the chair at a meeting-of directors of the North Otago Progress League Irrigation Farm at which it was decided ‘not to apply the second 100 tons of lime to the paddocks until an analysis of the soil had been obtained. Messrs Hurst and L. J. Smith were empowered to draw the necessary samples of soil and arrange for the analysis. Advice was received from the engineer of the' Public Works Department, Dunedin. that £SO had been granted to tine Waitaki County Council to enable a sur-. vey to be made of the water race intake; and asking the council to formulafe proposals as to what was required.—Mr Hurst reported that the county chairman had assured him that this would be one of the first duties to be attended to by the new engineer.
