HIGH SCHOOL BOARD
(MONTHLY MEETING Mr J. C. Kirkness was in the chair at the! monthly meeting of the Waitaki High School Board of Governors yesterday afternoon, and there were also present Messrs C. E. Ridgen, D. Bain, W. M. Cooper, J. Rodman, the Rev. A. Marshall. Mrs Berry, Miss J. B. Wilson (principal). and Mr J. T. Burrows (rector). The rector reported that certificates for swimming were presented to 30 boys in the Junior School, and for life-saving to 53 boys in the Senior School. Dr 11. Bevan Brown had presented a prize for the best essay on “ The Oak in British History,” and Mr A. S. Miller had given a large set of books. It was regretted that tlie school nurse, Sister Sanders, would be leaving at the end of the term. Miss Wilson reported that arrangements for the sixtieth anniversary celebrations —from October 24 to 27—were well in hand. Mrs S. C. Roberts had presented an interesting collection of dresses of the Victorian era. The girls continued to send parcels to England.
