OUTER MONGOLIA

RUSSIANS CHANGE MAPS CHINESE TERRITORY INCLUDED Rec. 8.45 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 3. The Russians have changed their maps of the Outer Mongolian-Sinki-ang border region, cutting off from the Chinese provinces 86,000 square kilometres of territory, according to Dr Lo Chialun, Chinese Ambassador to India. Dr Lo, in an interview in New Delhi with the correspondent of the Chinese Central News Agency,' said that during the survey he had supervised of Sinkiang’s resources in 1940, he particularly noted that the Russian maps of that year were the same as those of 1928 as regards Sinkiang and the Outer Mongolian border. The 1940 maps showed the whole Altai area within Sinkiang with Peitashan 200 kilometres inside the Sinkiang border. Later maps traced an entirely ne.w border, excluding from Sinkiang much of the Altai region. Dr Lo said that the change in the maps came after General Sheng Shihtsai. for many years war lord dictator of Sinkiang. shifted from a pro-Soviet to an anti-Soviet policy.
