LOST ON ANDES

SEARCH FOR BRITISH PLANE LONDON, Aug. 3. British-South American Airways reports that a Lancaster crossing the Andes from Buenos Aires to Santiago is overdue with six passengers and a British crew, says Reuter. A York air liner began a flight from London on July 30 on a weekly service to Chile, and took passengers as far as Bufenos Aires, where the Lancaster took over, for the last stage. The passengers comprise two from London and four from Buenos Aires. A message from Santiago reports that ski troops and Chilian and Argentine Air Force planes searched the stormswept Andes to-day for the missing airliner.
