PARACHUTIST’S DEATH

UNUSUAL ACCIDENT DURING EXERCISES LONDON, Aug. 1. An Army parachutist plunged 150 ft to his death during a training demonstration in Wiltshire, in which 50 parachutists took part. After the men had jumped from the planes, parachutes carrying equipment containers were released. One of these containers fell swiftly overtook the parachutist, and made one parachute collapse.. The parachutist crashed to death. Another parachutist who became enmeshed with a container clung to it with his arms and legs and floated to earth He broke his ankle. A third parachutist who was hit by a container escaped uninjured.
