CLUB RUNS
University Club Tile University Club members had a splendid view from the cliff tops at Cargill’s Castle, the first call on their run from St. Clair to Blackhead. An exploration which was made of Tunnel Beach necessitated some good hill work. From Blackhead the medium and slow packs returned home, but the fast pack ran along the beach to the next road which overlooked Green Island before coming back along the hilltops and past the St. Clair golf course. The hardier types finished with a swim. Results: —Fast pack: B. G. Stanley 1, R. Hunt 2, D. G. Green 3. Medium pack: W. McGregor 1, B Mills 2, J.Maclaren 3. Slow pack: P. Friedlander 1, A. Forsythe 2. J. Guy 3. St. Hilda Club The St. Hilda Club, held its Weekly run from the Caversham School 7 under the leadership of A, Miles. In a'.vjgjtort run home after the course had led over the Corstorphine hill country, R. Smith was first, followed by P. Walker, T. Currie and A. Miles in that order. Presbyterian Club The Presbyterian Bible Class Club ran from the Green Island Church Hall along the main road and up past the Coach and Horses to Saddle Hill, and on to the Green Island Beach, returning to the hall by the Brighton road. The fast, slow and colts’ packs did not have a run home, but the results of the junior race were:— C. D. Weedon 1, D. W. Falloon 2, F. K. Dolphin 3. Caversham Club The Caversham Harriers ran from the Holland Hall. The junior and colts’ packs together went up to Mornington, down into the Kaikorai Valley, circling the freezing works dam, and returned via the old tunnel. K. Knox, R Cain and D. Keene showed promise. The slow pack followed much the same course, and the run home was as follows:—G. Cundall 1, G. Abercrombie 2 ,J. Greene 3. The fast pack ran up Sydney street to Elgin road, along to the Stuart street car line, down to the Kaikorai Valley road and home via Lookout Point. J. Cain. F. Arthur and L. Gerrie ran consistently. Baptist Club The Baptist Harriers held their weekly run from the Caversham Baptist Church along Elgin road to the Ammunition track, returning via Burnside reservoir and up over Corstorphine home. Results: Fast pack—B. Cunningham 1, F. Fraser 2, K. Williamson 3: colts—D. Williams 1, M. Freeman 2, K. Duncan 3. Leith Club The Leith Harrier Club held its run from the Coach and Horses, Fairfield, in perfect conditions. The fast pack ran over Saddle Hill to the East Taieri district, while the slow pack had a “ sticky ” run over boggy country. Results: Fast pack—D. Fincham and R. Hughes 1 (equal); slow pack—M. Blackledge I, L. Mowat 2, R. Burns 3., Dunedin Club The Dunedin Club held its weekly run from the St. Kilda Bathing Pavilion The trail led along the golf links, over Lawyer’s Head and along Tomahawk and Smaill's Beach. A steady run home was held from Lawyer's Head, with W. Beveridge and R. Thompson leading the juniors and J. and G. Mitchell the seniors. Mornington Club The Mornington Harriers held their run from George Street School. The fast and slow packs ran up Pine Hill and past Liberton. Both packs proceeded around Campbell road, the fast pack returning home via the Brown House, Bethune’s Gully, and North-East Valley, and the slow pack via Leith Valley. A small road pack ran to St. Leonards and return Results of runs home: Fast pack—C. Jelley I, F. Rawley 2, M. Richards 3; slow pack—A. A. MacMillan 1, J. Taggart 2, L. Andrews 3. >
