WIN FOR UNIVERSITY

At Ellis Park the narrowness of the ground hampered University to such an extent that the home eleven obtained a two-goal lead by fast following up which completely baffled ttye visitors’ defence. Simpson scored a goal early for Roslyn and Mason added another before University settled down. Hill sent his forwards away and Payne cut in to score a fine goal. There was ho further score up to half time. The visitors swung into action in the second half, the whole team playing much better. Goals were added by Howie (2) and Gordon (2). Roslyn had the University defence hard pressed for a while, but when time was called University was leading by 5 goals to 2. The referee was Mr J. Welch.
