A CLOSE FINISH
The early game;, at the Caledonian Ground was open arid very even. Mornington attacked on the left from the kick off, a corner resulting, which was, cleared to midfield. Wilson returned upfield, but Webster saved from Cope. Technical then attacked on the right, Moir sending across for Groves to score. Moir again made a dashing run down the line before crossing to goal, Stewart connecting to give Webster no chance. Mornington attacked down the middle. The ball went out to Schofield, who snot over when well placed, but later he beat Fleming from close range.’ Brownlie, after securing from Cope, equalised with a fine drive, the score at the interval being two—all. Play was quiet for a time until Moir sent in a fast shot which rebounded out to J. Thomas, who sent past Webster. Later, Thomas again beat the goalkeeper after a nice movement Mornington was doing everything but score, but eventually in a concerted attack on the left, Brownlie beat Fleming with a hard drive. Cope went close with a header, and at /the other end Groves missed an open goal. Moir sent over, as also did Eaton with a smart header. Time was called with play in Mornington territory and the score: Technical Old Boys 4, Mornington 3., The referee was' Mr A. McAskill.
