SECRET WAR MATERIAL
DISCOVERY IN BERLIN BERLIN, Aug-x 1. The American Military Government announced that it had discovered large quantities of undeclared war material believed to have been manufactured for a “foreign Power” in the United States sector of Berlin, The official announcement did not identify the “foreign Power,” Officials found semi-completed gyroscopic motors for use in aircraft and in submarines and tanks, wings and body parts of link trainers, theodolites for observing trajectories or guided missiles (such as the V2), submarine periscopes, and similar precision instruments. The Americans closed two factories in which the undeclared war material was found, and their leading personnel have been placed under arrest during the investigations.
