RACING IN AUSTRALIA
LUCKY ROBIN’S EASY WIN Rec 8.45 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 3. In his third start in Australia the former New Zealander, Lucky Robin, walked away from the opposition m the one mile and a-half Mixed Stakes at Rosehill, to win by five lengths. After an unplaced performance in New Zealand, he finished third in a mile race at Newcastle, and last week came home over 10 furlongs by two lengths. The four-vear-old, who is a half-brother to the New Zealand sprinter Salutation, is now regarded as Sydney’s most promising young stayer. Karachi, not to be .confused with the New Zealand horse racing here as King Karachi, won the First Mixed Stakes by a long head and will have his next start against the champion youngster, Temeraire, in the Hobaitville Stakes. He has won only two races in the restricted company and his trainer, Maurice McCarten, is running him against the best three-year-olds with an eye to the Derbys. During the week the former New Zealander, Frontal Attack was sold to Mr Eliot Randall, and will be trained by Gordon Ray. He was sold to Mr G. A. Frank at a disposal sale of Mr Alec Higgins’s property last season. Frank is to be questioned by the Australian. Jockey Club committee about statements made to the stewards during the transfer of the ownership. Results : SEVEN FURLONG MIXED STAKES.
