Jottings Findon was finishing very strongly in the Winter Cup and the extra distance attached to the Islington Handicap should be to his liking. Likely Sort Coral Arc shows every promise of developing into a good winner. A three-year-old by Coronach from Barbacom, he is owned by Mr A. N. Smith, treasurer of the Dunedin Jockey Club, and owner of Arabian Night. Further Successes Fairyhouse gave a faultless exhibition of jumping in the Enfield Steeplechase, and should go on to further successes. Impressive Magnaform won the Cashmere Plate impressively and C. G. Humphries should have a good season with him. He is bred to win races, being by Salmagundi from Boaform. Boolamskee As a result of his win in the Jumpers’ Flat, Boolamskee will come into favour for the Grand National Hurdles. The Baffles gplding looked in fine condition on Saturday. Looks Belie Him Beechwood is not particularly attractive to the eye. but the Lang Bian gelding’s speed belies his looks. He should continue to pay his way for his owner. Mr R. P. Register. Badly Placed Frances will probably be improved by her race in the Paparua Handicap. She came home very strongly to get third after being badly placed during the running. Improved Lord Roland gave an improved showing in the Trial Hurdles, but found the distance too far. Brilliant Effort By running second in the Winter Cup, Howe proved that his fall at Trentham had left no ill effects. He was always near the front and fought every yard of the last bit with the brilliant Soneri. He will be in keen demand for his selected race on Saturday. Well Back Early Desert Trek was well back from the leaders in the early running of the Jumpers’ Flat, but was travelling over everything in the straight', and he just failed to catch Boolamskee who. however. was being eased up. Never Sighted Sari was never sighted in the Winter Cup and did not finish in the first 15 Looks the Part Spirillum is a big, upstanding gelding, who fills the eye as one likely to develop into a high-class steeplechaser. Page’s Raid When Page’s Raid fell in the Grand National, he was under a good hold. It would probably have been better if he had been allowed to stride out and help t'o force the pace. Disappointing Wane was a disappointment in the Trial Hurdles and gave a poor display of jumping. On the strength of his track work he was made third faxourite on each machine.
