UNIQUE OCCASION

MUSIC BY COLOURED BAND ROYAL GARDEN PARTY Rec 8 p.m. LONDON, June TO. For the first time at a royal garden party a coloured band played at the presentation party which their Majesties gave in the grounds of Buckingham Palace. It was the Gold Coast Police Band, which is on a four months’ tour of Britain. The red headgear and shining black faces of the bandsmen in smart khaki drill made a splash , of unusual colour against the moving background of softer colours. The band played alternately with _the Grenadier Guards Band for the 5000 guests.
