SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKETERS FIRST TEST IN ENGLAND LONDON, June 10. In the first test between South Africa and England the visitors compiled 533 in their first innings. England were all out for 208, and, following on, have lost four wickets for 278. England, going in eight minutes before lunch, lost eight wickets for 54 runs, the last five adding only 10. Tuckett, fast off the pitch to-day, took four for 16 off 14 overs. The South Africans were in an inspired mood when Hutton and Washbrook opened England’s second innings, and with the total at 20 Hutton lost his off stump. Edrich and Washbrook found run-getting difficult, but by patient batting raised the score to one for 115, when Edrich was bowled.
