AGROUND ON REEF

FRENCH SHIP IN PACIFIC PASSENGERS AND CREW TAKEN ASHORE PAPEETE (Tahiti), Rec. 11 p.m June 11. The 170 passengers and crew on the French ship Oiseau des Isles, which is aground on a reef near Mopelia Island, 300 miles west of Tahiti, have been put ashore on the reef, according to a message received from the British freighter Samkey, which is standing by to remove the passengers from the reef and assist in salvage if possible.
