LITTLE PROGRESS
ONE TREE HILL MURDER P.A. AUCKLAND, June 11. Now that almost a week has elapsed the chances of finding the weapon used in the murder of Mrs Gladys Ruth Rusden, of 37 Horotytu road. One Tree Hill, have diminished, although the police are still hopeful.' Investigations were continued to-day both at One Tree Hill and in the city, and Senior Detective P. Kearney and Detective Sergeaent W. R. Fell took possession of further articles that may prove to be valuable clues in solving the mystery. Among the formidable list of people who have now been interviewed are tradesmen whose business took them to Horotutu road, all passengers in a bus which travelled down the street on the morning of the murder, taxi drivers and bus drivers. To-day’s inquiries indicate that Mrs Rusden lived in fear of another woman. This was known by a woman friend to whom Mrs Rusden is alleged to have confided that she was constantly afraid of another assault after the attack upon her in February, 1946. “Mrs Rusden often spoke to, me of her fears,” the woman told reporters. “She received two anonymous notes before she was attacked 16 months ago, but after that incident she said she was even more certain that someone meant to do her bodily injury.”
