OLYMPIC SELECTOR

The action of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association in nominating Mr B. R. McKernan as South Island selector of the athletic section of the team to represent the Dominion at the Olympic Games in London next year was a wise one. There is no man connected with the administration of athletics in New Zealand with a deeper knowledge of the sport than Mr McKernan. who is at present in Australia negotiating on behalf of the Otago Centre for a tour by Australian athletes next summer. In addition to filling many local offices, Mr McKernan was athletic coach with the Empire Games team in 1938, when he had the opportunity of studying the requirements needed in the men to represent New Zealand in international contests.
