CLAIMS ON ENEMIES
NEGOTIATIONS TO BE OPENED P.A. WELLINGTON, May 27. Upon the conclusion of treaties of peace with Italy, \ Rumania, Bulgaria and Hungary. negotiations would be undertaken with a v'ew to the settlement of the claims nf New Zealand nationals against these former enemy States and their nationals, and for the restoration of property rights and interests of New Zealand nationals in those States, said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, to-day. It was important that New Zealand nationals having claims against these States which had not yet been registered with the Custodian of Enemy Property, or having any property rights or interests in respect of which it was desired to make a claim for restitution, should obtain the requisite form from the Custodian of Enemy Property immediately Any claim not received by the Custodian by June 15, 1947, would be liable to exclusion. All claims must be accompanied by a statement.of the claimant’s nationality, and if the claimant is a British subject by naturalisation, letters of r aturalisation must be produced in support of the claim. Claims from persons granted naturalisation subsequent to the date of the armistice with the respectve States could not be admitted.
