MANY WEEK-END CRIMES SYDNEY, May 26. Although police patrols were strengthened during the week-end. street bashers, using bottles and fists, were more numerous. The police made more than 800 arrests in the city and suburbs. About two-thirds' of these were protective arrests of drunken men who were unable to take care of themselves. Other charges included assault, offensive behaviour stealing, rape, dangerous driving, inflicting bodily harm, and breaking anr entering.
