SMALL INCREASE
WINTER SHOW ENTRIES Entries for the 1947 Winter Show tola! 2081—an increase of 38 over last year's figures. Some large increases are recorded, the advance in the home industries entries being particularly noticeable, but on the whole they are offset by smaller entries in a number of sections. The poor fruit season is reflected in the entry of only 71 exhibits this year, compared with 163.
The dry season, however, did not affect stock entries to the extent that might have been expected. In. the primary produce classes, entries are good. A small entry last year of 15 in the farmers' butter section has been trebled ttrtS" year, and this increase may be attributed indirectly to the effects of rationing. Interest in the club efforts will be quickened by an additional Young Farmers' Club entry and by two more Women’s Institute bays. The detailed figures are as follows:
