ABSENT RATINGS

THREE ARRESTS REPORTED PENAL MEASURES ALLEGED p.A. AUCKLAND, May 26. Three -of the 48 absentee ratings from the cruiser Bellona were arrested last week and have been charged with absence without leave, according to statements made to-day by member ratings of the “Strike. Committee" who are still ashore. They allege that these men have been sentenced to seven days in the cells, or alternatively to foreiture of one good-con-duct badge, which carries a pay bonus of 4d a day They also allege that, in addition, the men have been ordered to forfeit leave and pay according to the navai scale for the time they were absent without leave. It is believed that the case of the absent ratings may be considered at the annual conference of the Federation of Labour.
