Christchurch remits—" That a protest be made to the, Government against any increase in the facilities for drinking alcoholic liquors through the opening of hotel bars after 6 p.m., by any increase in charters for clubs, any further licences to tourist hotels and any granting of charters for clubs in no-licence districts, or by sale of alcoholic liquors in restaurants or public works camps,” and “ That a protest be made against any proposal to mrease the intervals between licensing polls, to make necessary a 60 per cent majority for the carrying of prohibition, or to bring about corporate control of the liquor trade.” were also carried. . . . „_. . Another remit carried was: That this conference views with .concern the short sentences passed upon sexual perverts who have already served a term of detention and recommends that any person convicted of a sexual offence be examined by a medical board and if necessary be given a medical and psychiatric treatment and placed under medical supervision until, in the board’s opinion, such person can be discharged as cured.” Officers elected were: President, Mrs B Bates (Wanganui); secretary, Mrs E. J. Chesswas (Wanganui); treasurer, Mrs A. E. Gould (Wanganui); delegates to the National Council conference in Australia in October —Mrs W. Mackay (Christchurch), Misses M. G. Havelaar (Christchurch) and M. McLean (Christchurch)-; representative on the Government Advisory Council on Immigration, Miss E. Law (Christchurch). The next Dominion conference will be held at Auckland in September 1948.
