HIGHLAND FLING’S PROSPECTS
With the publication of the handicaps, interest in the Forbury Park meeting, which will be opened on Saturday, has quickened, and naturally the prospects in the principal race of the day, the Ritchie Memorial Handicap, are the most frequently discussed. Of the field of 10, two in Elation and Gold Peg are on 12 yards, and of these Gold Peg makes the greater appeal. She has been a very consistent mare, and at the Addington Easter meeting she showed signs of returning to her best form. Elation’s chances would be brighter if the going happened to be heavy.
Globe Direct. Loyal King, and Watcher are on 24 yards, and the firstnamed is the most likely to show improvement. On 36 yards are Aberhall and Jack’s Son, two smart pacers, but they look rather close to the backmarkers. Lucky Loyal meets Highland Fling on 36 yards better terms than when he finished third to the U. Scott pacer and Loyal Peter at Addington. Highland Fling, on 60, and Dundee Sandy, on 72, are the backmarkers. and their brilliant performances at the recent Addington meeting will probably result in a duel for favouritism with Gold Peg next in demand.
