ADESS SHIELD WIN FOR NORTH-EAST VALLEY North-East Valley won the Adess Shield for 1946-47, beating Anderson’s Bay by 22 to 12 on the St. Kilda green on Saturday afternoon in the final of the competition. The green was playing well and the final was watched by a large gathering of spectators. Play had been brought to the semi-final stage on the preceding Saturday. North-East Valley was five up on the first two ends, and Anderson’s Bay scored a single on the third, but was down 4-9 on the seventh, on which the North-East Valley team scored a further three points. North-East Valley had increased its lead to 14-5 by the end of the eleventh end. The winners scored eight in the next six heads to Anderson’s Bay’s one, making the score 22-6, but the Bay team won the closing three heads to add five to their score The winning team comprised W. Williamson, J. S. Crawford, L. Hughes, and G. Cook. The 'detailed results are as follows: Semi-final.—Anderson’s Bay 23, Kalkorai 15; North-East Valley 24, Taieri 14. Final.—North-East Valley 22, Anderson’s Bay 11.
