INDUSTRIAL POLICY
REPORT BY CONSERVATIVES FACTS WILL NOT BE SHIRKED Special Correspondent Rec. 7.30 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 17. A report on industry policy is to be published next month by the Industrial Policy Committee of the Conservative Party. In making this announcement at the annual meeting of the Central Council .of the National Union of Conservatives and Unionist Associations, Mr R. A. Butler said the committee had waited for the issue of the Government White Papers, but had been disappointed by their lack of constructive policy. A much more definite line than the Government’s would be taken, said Mr Butler. It would, however, not be the final policy, for. he added, an election might be upon them sooner than they thought. But if the election did come soon they would be i - eady for it. The statement, he continued, would not shirk facts. Jt would deal with denationalised industries. • Mr Butler also stated: “ Nationalisation is the most inhuman conception of all. I believe we have the greatest opportunity of our career as a party.”
