KIRSTEN FLAGSTAD

PRO-GERMAN ACCUSATION NEW YORK, Mar. 15.

Kirsten Flagstad, the Norwegian soprano, who arrived on Friday from Europe for a concert tour, was to-day accused by the Norwegian Ambassador, Mr Wilhelm Morgenstierne, of having connived with the Germans in 1941 to return to Nazi-occupied Norway. The Ambassador said Madame Flagstad went home to “her Quisling husband."

Interviewed, Madame Flagstad denied charges that she was pro-German or had connived with the Germans. She insisted that she returned to Norway to be with her husband, Henry Johansen. In reply to questions she admitted she did not give aid or money to' the Norwegian underground, and had no contact with it. * She said she intended to apply for American citizenship. Her husband died in Norway in 1945, while awaiting trial on charges of collaborating with the Germans.
