VOTE AGAINST COMMUNISM WASHINGTON, Mar. 16,

A conference attended by representatives of 10 seafaring unions claiming an aggregate membership of 200,000 adopted a resolution calling on the unions to reject Communists as “ traitors to the nation and a detriment to the solid permanency of the United States Merchant Marine.” The conference also asked for swift action by Congress to check the transferring of American vessels to Panamanian and Honduran registry. It added that a nation-wide boycott would be imposed if necessary on American companies which adopted that method of avoiding the payment of American wage scales, ship inspection requirements and United States taxation. Participating unions included five affiliates of the American Federation of Labour, four affiliates of the Congress of Industrial Organisations. .
