MAKING OF APPOINTMENTS PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE DESIRABLE P.A CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 13. The council of the Canterbury Law Society confirmed the following resolution at its annual meeting to-day:— “ That this council considers that appointments to the judicial bench of the Supreme Court, whether temporary or permanent, should in the interests of the public be made from barristers in practice, qualified by experience and knowledge in the courts, and that the public interest is prejudiced by the appointment of any perspn not so qualified.”
