OLD VOLUNTEERS
PROPOSED RE-UNION NEXT YEAR A meeting of old volunteers to consider proposals for a reunion next year was held tn the R.S.A., rooms, Moray place on Tuesday night. Mr G. F. McKellar occupied the chair. There was a good muster of ex-members of the various companies, and all present were enthusiastic with regard to the holding of a combined reunion during the centennial celebrations. It was pointed out that this may be the last opportunity of holding such a celebration, as it is 36 years since the volunteer system was abandoned ana replaced by the territorials. ' After some informal discussion It was considered that the necessary support would be forthcoming, and it was decided to hold the reunion. Ex-members present were appointed an interim committee to get in touch with as many members of the old companies as possible, and also to gather all the available Information regarding the early volunteering days, dating from 1856, when the first company, the Otago Volunteers, was decjded tQ hold the next meeting in April, when the best means of advancing the proposal will be considered
