April 5 Metropolitan TC Jottings The Dillon Hall pacer Popotai should step his way out of trial company before long. Lord Grattan is reported to be one of the most improved trotters in Southland. G. S. Smith has Turco in work and the Rev de Oro gelding will be raced at the Addington Easter meeting. Wyndham Candidate Beau Jument, a candidate for the Ferry Handicap at Wyndham, is an aged bay mare by Quite Sure from Edith Bingen, and is trained at Invercargill by H. Booth. Grattan Loyal Mare Lottie Dale is an aged mare by Grattan Loyal from Margaret Dillon. At the Invercargill meeting on March 1 she was started twice, and showed speed on each occasion, but lost any chance she had by breaking. She is engaged at Wyndham to-morrow. i Gold Bar Filly Ingot, a two-yearrold filly by Gold Bar from Queen High, was a , recent winner; at the Woodend meeting in Victoria. She was sold at the second annual national yearling sales for 120gns. y An Improver Sureiy’s win in the Jellicoe Handicap at Invercargill will place her among the favourites for the Edendale Handicap at Wyndham. The Quite Sure mare has been started five times this season for two wins and a second. Cheviot Cup In his last six starts Abel Tasman has scored two wins and run second twice. The Calumet Axworth pacer is trained at New Brighton by G. Cameron and he is sure to be among the fancied runners in . the Cheviot Cup. Slow Beginner Dillondale is among those in regular work at Addington. He is a speedy sort but frequently ruins his chance by failing to hit out smartly at the start of his races. Early Win Indicated Volo Lad, one of W. R. Butt's team, is due for another win at any time. His finishing effort to get second.in the Washdyke Handicap at TiniMvLi&st Saturday .was impressive. Plausible, who werit to the post for the first division of the Trial Handicap at Invercargill, but tobk no part, in the race, is a four-year-old gelding by Logan Fraser from Satin Lass, and. is trained at Momona by his owner, Mr F. Johnson. He will have his second race at Wyndham tomorrow
Captain Kindef Included-in L. O. Thomas's team is Captain Kinder, a five-year-old gelding by Sandy dale from Myra Parrish, who was got by Guy Parrish from Imperial Logan, by Logan Pointer from Imperial Princess by Prince Imperial. He had eight starts last season without finishing In a place, and he has had one unplaced start this season. Trained at Forbury Park
Oriental Boy, who was heavily backed at the Invercargill meeting, is a four-vear-old gelding by Nelson Pointer from Pola Negri, by Happy Voyage, from Regina Logan, by Logan Pointer from Regina de Oro, by Copa de Oro from Regina Belle by bellman. ’ Trained at Forbury Park bv F. Farquharson, Oriental Bov will be raced at Wyndham to-morrow. Josedale Dictator Gelding Bashaw, who will race in the 'mterpsts- of R. Townlev in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at ' the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club s Easter meeting, is an interesting acceptor in the trotting events at the Cheviot Trotting Club s meeting to-morrow.
