The Waverley Borough Council reports damage to roads in the district of about £IOO,OOO, and proposes to approach the Federal Government for relief amounting to £60,000. To-day hundreds of factory workers are out of employment. Widespread thefts of tiles from partly-completed houses are reported, and there is much absenteeism among workers busily engaged on temporary repairs to their homes.
