DISCUSSIONS HELD

TRANSPORT FEDERATION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 2. Discussions were held to-day between representatives of the Transport Workers’ Federation and the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union. It is understood that these ended satisfactorily meantime from the union’s viewpoint, but no statement was issued. The national secretary of the Watersiders’ Union. Mr T. Hill, left to-night for Lyttelton, where he will address a meeting. There will also be a short stop-work meeting in Wellington to-morrow. Meetings in the immediate future are also scheduled for other ports. There is no indication yet that the watersiders will return to normal working hours on Monday, as required by the terms of the Prime Minister’s ultimatum.
