INVERCARGILL TRACK WORK

FINAL GALLOPS FOR WYNDHAM (Special) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 30. The final training of horses engaged at the Wyndham Racing Club’s meeting was held at Invercargill this morning. The weather conditions were a great improvement on recent weeks, and bright sunshine favoured the work. The course proper, with the poles 25 feet out, was open, and the track was in good order, but on the slow side. Horses who raced at the Dunedin meeting were restricted to pace work, but several useful sprint tasks were recorded, the efforts of Soft Light Absentee, Luminous Knight and Geisha Girl impressing. Douglas Haig is one of the first visitors to arrive. He looked well when worked ea Maniototo was sent an easy mile, coming home the last six fin lmin 26sec, the last half in 55sec. Hd was not produced at the second day of the Dunedin meeting, as he was cast in his box the. previous night. He appears to have made a good recovery, and he should be at his best again for the Invercargill meeting. Red Prize was restricted to an easy mile, while Aurora Australis was given a light task. Her next appearance will probably be in the Invercargill Cup. Great Coon looks Improved by his Wingatui' racing and was let off with pace work. He is not engaged at Wyndh3Soft Light and Profiteer were clear of Kyron over five furlongs in lmin 6 3-ssec —the best of the morning. They came home their last half in 53 3-ssec, with Soft Light doing her work exceptionally W From a barrier start Doulton Jumped out ahead of Geisha Girl and Bonny Royal. Doulton was pulled up at the end of a furlong, and Geisha Girl carried on to run half a mile in 54sec and five in lmin 8 l-ssec, finishing well clear of Bonny Royal. . „. , T . Percy, Turora and Welcome Light finished together at the end of seven furlongs in lmin 37 l-ssec, after running the first furlong in 12 4-ssec. Invulnerable and Maharajah took lrnln 37 2-ssec for the last seven of a mile, coming home the last half in 55sec. Both strip in 'good order. Solver went away from the mile and was joined by Pageantry at the seven, and Sunny Course also joined in at the six. Solver completed the mile in lmin 53sec, the last seven in lmin 37sec, the last six in lmin 22 2-ssec, and the last half In 55 3-ssec. .. . . Rhine Lord and Linloch ran the last seven furlongs of a mile in lmin 37 4-ssec, the last half in 54 4-ssec. Absentee and Waiau King were well clear of Libellula at the end of five furlongs in lmin 7sec, the last half in 53 2-ssec. Absentee put a lot of dash into her work. . „ . Luminous Knight was well clear of First Out over five in lmin 7 2-ssec, the last four in 54 l-ssec. Luminous Knight has been putting a lot of dash into his work, and is an early prospect. Rqyal Coon was doing better than San Quentin at the end of six furlongs In lmin 23sec. the last half in 56sec. Both Salad and Aurora Australis are unlikely starters in the Wyndham Cup. The Hazlett stable will probably start Black Light in the Cup, and R. E. McLellan will have Solver to represent him.
