QUICK DETECTION

OLD MAN’S DEATH CAR DRIVER IDENTIFIED After an accident on Saturday night at the corner of Manor place and Prmces street, in which Stephen Harrington, aged 84, was knocked down by a motor car and later died of his injuries, some prompt and effective work bv detectives led to the identification of the driver of the car yesterday morning. The police would not disclose, however, whether the circumstances were such that a charge would follow. An inquest into the death was opened yesterday before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., sitting as coroner, who ordered a post mortem and adjourned the hearing sine die to enable the police to make inquiries. Evidence of identification was given by a son of the deceased, Ernest Harrington, of Shiel Hill, who stated that his father was deaf. The police were represented by Detective Sergeant H. J. LeSuer.
