WATERSIDE OFFICIALS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. . No comment was made to-night by the national president of the Waterside Workers’ Union, Mr H. Bames, on the ultimatum presented to his union by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. He said a meeting of his national executive might be called. The president of the Auckland Trades Council and the national vice-president of the Waterside Union, Mr A. Drennan, also remained silent when asked to comment on Mr Fraser's announcement, although an Auckland union - official said that Mr Fraser’s ultimatum had not come as a surprise. There was evidence that the rank and file were startled by a threat which could deprive them of many of the benefits gained in recent years.
