On Tuesday evening mem|N bers of the executive of the I raL *1 Dunedin sub-centre enter--1 HP I tained Miss Edith L. Wilkin, Bn—— rl who has retired from the r position of advisory director of the Otago V.A.D.’s, Mrs Remfry Harris who has resigned from the position of organiser of the Red Cross canteen at the Public Hospital, and Miss Nola McAdam, who has relinquished her office of commandant of the transport detachment. The chairman, Mr Charles V. Smith, spoke of their splendid services to, the Red Cross, and while regretting their retirement from these important posiions expressed pleasure that they would continue to be active members of the society. Mrs Smith presented flowers to the guests of honour. Tlie society acknowledges, with many thanks, the donation of £5 from “ Elizabeth.” Anderson’s Bay Sub-centre.—lceland poppies made a dainty setting in St. Michael’s Hall last Monday evening, the occasion being the annual social of the Anderson's Bay Sub-centre. Among the guests present were Miss E. L. Wilkin, Miss D. O. Ramsay, Mrs Roberts and Mrs Wedderspoon, each of whom was pre-

sented with a spray of flowers. After the guests had been welcomed by Mrs T. Drain, songs were sung by Mis P. Moore. The rest of the evening was devoted to trump whist, the prize-winners being Mrs Charles V. Smith and Mrs Marshall. The society continues its work of sending food and clothing to Britain, a further 50 cases of foodstuffs having left yesterday for England.
