Russians Oppose Supervision of Bulgarian Elections
WASHINGTON, (Red. 9 p.m.) Oct. 21. The State Department announced that the acting chairman of the Allied Control Commission for Bulgaria, the Russian Colonel-general Sergei Biryusov, rejected the can request for Allied supervision of the Bulgarian general elections on October 27 on the ground that the conduct of the poll was exclusively the Bulgarian Government’s business. Colonel-general Biryusov described the American move as rude interference in Bulgarian affairs. The United Press comments that Russia’s blunt rejection raises the possibility that the United States may refuse to accept the election results as representing the Bulgarian people’s will.
