BRITAIN’S HUGE BILL

WAR DAMAGE COMPENSATION THOUSANDS OF CLAIMS MET (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. The Government has announced that it is paying next July additional sums for war damage compensation for the loss of private chattels. The amount already paid out is £60,000.000, and the amount to be paid next July will be £30,000,000. It is estimated that additional supplementary payments wil total £20,000.000. The July payments repiesent .300,000 separate claims. No date has yet been announced for the payments of business losses, but £28,000,000 has already been paid. The sum of £60,000.000 is to be paid, representing 47,000 claims
