UNIT HISTORY
TWENTY-SIXTH BATTALION CONFERENCE ARRANGED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 28. In order to plan production of the unit history of the Twenty-sixth (South Island) Battalion, representatives from widely-scattered districts of both islands will attend a conference in Wellington to-morrbw. Lieutenantcolonel J- R. Page, D. 5.0., of Wellington, the original commanding officer, is convener. Visitors to Wellington for this purpose include Major F. W. Wilson, M.C., and Major K. W. Hobbs (Christchurch), Lieutenant-colonel A. W. Barnett, M.C., Major B. Boyd, Major F. F. Walden, and Lance-corporal J. P. Bell (Dunedin), Colonel D. J. Fountaine, D. 5.0., M.C. (Westport), Major D. W. P. Harvey, M.C. (Pelorus Sounds), and Major F. M .Ollivier (Masterton). The Wellington representatives will be Lieutenant-colonel F. J. Thomson, Major B. R. Bullot, and Mapor A. Molineaux. Warrant-officer F. D. Norton (Christ,church), unit historian, said to-day that to do justice to the story of the battalion in action, so that no worthwhile incident would be excluded, he required a great deal of assistance from the men themselves. Many eyewitness stories would be needed, as well as anecdotes concerning happenings both in and out of action. "
