LORNEVILLE STOCK SALE
FAT CATTLE PRICES EASIER (P A.) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 27. There were smaller yardings in all sections at the Lorneville stock sale to-day compared with last week. The fat sheep entry comprised mainly wethers, the majority of which were of good quality, as were the ewes yarded. Better quality wethers were about 18d a head dearer than last week, but medium and lightweight wethers were a shade easier. Good quality heavy-weight wethers sold from 50s to 53s 6d; medium weights, 45s to 48s 6d; handyweights, 41s to 435; lightweights, 38s to 40s; unfinished, 32s to 345; good quality young ewes, 28s to 30s 3d; quality butcher’ ewes, 24s 6d to 26s 6d; medium quality. 20s to 225; unfinished, 17s to 19s. The quality of the fat cattle generally was good, but prices were about 30s a head easier than last week. Prime quality heavyweight bullocks made from £23 to £24 15s; good quality medium weight, £lB 10s to £2l: handyweight, £l7 to £18; lightweights, £ls to £l6 10s; good quality heifers, £ls to £l6 10s; handyweights £l3 10s to £l4 10s; lightweights, £lO 10s to £l2; good quality cows, £l4 10s to £ls 10s; medium quality, £l2 to £l3 10s; unfinished, £lO 10s to £ll 10s; aged, £7 to £8 10s.
